Amustela is an award winning performer and master instuctor of "Danse Orientale", Raks Sharqi  or Belly Dance with a long history of "restaurant performance" in the metropolitan DC area and now resides in Charlotte NC.   She was a regular presence in the DMV area restaurant and show scene from 2000 - 2017.   She is a fantastic workshop instructor and enjoys traveling to share her over 25 years of experience in the art.

 Currently booking for 2018 and 2019 workshops and performances.       

Amustela's dance style is described as vintage cabaret,  Oriental or "American Cabaret".   She is considered an expert in the evolution of this style in America and a master instructor in the art.   She is also a afficinado of the "Golden Age" of Egyptian Film

9:30 - 11 a.m. Coffee/Donuts and Amustela "American Cabaret - The First Fusion" combination historical presentation, technique and warm up.

11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Laylianah Mahasin - drills and thrills with "Layering Shimmies and Beyond" .Belly dancers are famous for their ability to walk, chew gum, and shimmy all at the same time! In this workshop, Laylianah will show you how to do just that. We will cover all things layering. Laylianah will give you tools you can use to make layering easier on your brain. She will teach you several combos that layer basic movements over shimmies, over other basic movements, and over traveling steps. We will also be playing an exciting game Laylianah calls Shimmy Layer Cake. Yes, it is as fun and delicious as it sounds! So, get ready for a great workout for both mind and body!

2:15 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. Leilah Moon presents "Modern Egyptian Combos - Egyptian Cabaret technique"
Live for shaabi? Begging for baladi? Curious about developing a stronger sense of "raqs sharqi" style? This class is for you! We'll develop that particularly Egyptian sense of style through combinations, footwork, gestures, and movement. Emphasis is on strengthening emotional expression, musical interpretation, and dynamic quality of movement. This fun, upbeat workshop will use a variety of Egyptian music from pop and shaabi to modern entrance pieces, taking inspiration from some of the famous Egyptian dancers of today.

4 p.m. - 5:30 pm Leilah Moon presents - "Make an Entrance: Egyptian Style Choreography"
An Egyptian-style entrance piece is composed to introduce a dancer to the audience with maximum impact and
showcase a variety of rhythmic and dynamic changes. Leilah will break down the technique and movements
step-by-step and explore the structure of this tradition through a choreography that ranges from earthy and
elegant to cheeky and energetic. Veil is optional, but you are the only embellishment your dance needs!

Event is being held at Riverview Raw Bar & Chill

A full service restaurant on the banks of the Catawba river and Lake Wylie in Charlotte NC (near Belmont). They offer a full menu, private party facilities (where we will be holding our workshop and evening show) in a picture perfect natural setting - with beautiful water views and lots of free parking. They will be open for lunch - so feel free to order your lunch and relax on the lake front patio!

Evening show is FREE to attend! Show from 8 - 10 pm. Feel free to arrive early and have drinks, a great meal and then enjoy the show! Full service bar and menu featuring Seafood, salads and other amazing food. www.riverviewrawbar.com
